SDA has been appointed to lead the design on multiple renovation and infrastructure upgrade projects across the Northern network. Works at Bolton Interchange include upgrades to the platform concourse and new passenger seating areas, as well as extensive refurbishment of passenger waiting room areas, staff areas, and public conveniences. A new disabled access lift is also proposed to improve connectivity between the railway concourse and Bolton University.
